Minimum Wage for Employers with 26 Employees or More Minimum Wage for Employers with 25 Employees or Less Starting in 2017, California started a phase-in schedule to reach the $15 minimum wage for all employers. Instead, there are provisions in IWC Order 14-2001, Sections 10(F), (G) and (H)) that apply to sheepherders and goat herders with respect to monthly meal and lodging benefits required to be provided by the employer. Wages paid to sheepherders and goat herders may not be offset by meals or lodging provided by the employer. The minimum monthly salary for sheepherders and goat herders is specially set under IWC Wage Order 14-2001. Effective January 1, 2023, the minimum monthly salary for sheepherders and goat herders increases to $2,755.48 per month for all employers. The minimum wage rates applicable in recent years can be found in the IWC wage orders. There is a list of City and County minimum wages in California maintained by UC Berkeley. Some cities and counties have higher minimum wages than the state’s rate. Effective January 1, 2023, the minimum wage is $15.50 per hour for all employers.
